Yogyakarta — Students of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) have achieved another notable accomplishment, with a student from the S1 Psychology Study Program and the Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPKO) team of the Faculty of Psychology UNY qualifying for the 2026 Abdidaya Ormawa Awards. This achievement recognizes students’ contributions to developing innovative, collaborative, and community-oriented initiatives that address real-world needs and promote sustainable social impact.
One of the students advancing to the event is Fatih Razin Zaidan, an S1 Psychology student who is part of the UKM REALITY FIP UNY team. The team qualified through its subproposal entitled “KSATRIA (Kebonharjo Sehat Tangguh Berdaya) through the GIZIMPACT Institution: Optimizing Curcuma Potential to Strengthen Health Self-Reliance among Vulnerable Communities.” The initiative explores the potential of Curcuma as a local resource that can be developed to support community health self-reliance, particularly among vulnerable groups. Fatih’s involvement in a team from another faculty demonstrates how Psychology students can contribute across academic disciplines and participate in community empowerment initiatives that promote well-being and social development.
In addition, the PPKO team from the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Psychology UNY (BEM KM FP UNY) has qualified for the 2026 Abdidaya Ormawa Awards with its subproposal entitled “DARMA HUSADA: Building a Healthy Banjaroyo Village through Community-Based, Holistic, and Intergenerational Health Empowerment.” The program focuses on promoting community health by empowering residents and addressing the needs of different generations. Through a holistic, community-based approach, the initiative seeks to strengthen local capacity, encourage active community participation, and foster a shared understanding of health as a collective responsibility.
The participation of both teams demonstrates that student contributions extend beyond academic activities in the classroom. Through community engagement, students have opportunities to apply their knowledge, strengthen collaboration skills, develop creative solutions, and cultivate social responsibility. For Psychology students, these experiences are particularly relevant to understanding human behavior and community dynamics as part of broader efforts to create meaningful and sustainable social change.
These initiatives also align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). DARMA HUSADA contributes to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being through community-based health empowerment and is also relevant to SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by strengthening community capacity at the village level. Meanwhile, KSATRIA supports SDG 3 by promoting community health self-reliance and is relevant to SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities through its focus on vulnerable groups. Both initiatives highlight the importance of community participation and collaboration in advancing sustainable development.
The 2026 Abdidaya Ormawa Awards are being held at Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI), Makassar, from 21 to 25 October 2026. The event provides a platform to recognize student organizations and higher education institutions for impactful community empowerment initiatives. According to the organizers, the event brings together 120 teams from 60 higher education institutions, with awards presented across various categories. Participation offers students an opportunity to exchange good practices, expand collaborative networks, and strengthen their commitment to community service.
The S1 Psychology Study Program at UNY extends its appreciation to Fatih Razin Zaidan and the PPKO BEM KM FP UNY team for qualifying for the 2026 Abdidaya Ormawa Awards. May this achievement inspire more students to develop creative ideas, strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, and make meaningful contributions to society. Keep creating, collaborating, and making a positive impact on Indonesia.
