History of the Bachelor’s Program in Psychology at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta
The development of the Bachelor’s Program in Psychology at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) represents an important chapter in the growth of psychological science within the university. The program emerged from the increasing need for a structured, independent, and contemporary psychology education that responds to societal and academic demands.

Early Development of Psychology at UNY
Before 2015Prior to becoming an independent academic entity, psychological studies at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) were housed within the Faculty of Education (FIP). The Bachelor’s Program in Psychology served as the primary foundation for the establishment of the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Through continuous development of its curriculum, academic staff, research activities, and community service, the program became the driving force behind the creation of an independent faculty.
Ultimately, the Bachelor’s Program in Psychology formally evolved into the Faculty of Psychology, which now houses two academic programs: the Bachelor’s Program in Psychology and the Master’s Program in Psychology.
