Prior to becoming an independent academic entity, psychological studies at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) were housed within the Faculty of Education (FIP). 12 June 2015

Based on the Rector’s Decree of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), the Department of Psychology was officially established within the Faculty of Education on 12 June 2015. This status strengthened the academic identity of the Bachelor’s Program in Psychology and provided broader opportunities for institutional development.

In line with organizational restructuring at UNY, the Department of Psychology became part of the Faculty of Education and Psychology (FIPP). This transformation enhanced academic integration and reinforced the strategic position of the Bachelor’s Program in Psychology within the university system.

Toward the Establishment of the Faculty of Psychology

2 May 2025

After approximately a decade of development, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) officially established the Faculty of Psychology on 2 May 2025. This decision represented the culmination of long-term academic growth initiated by the Bachelor’s Program in Psychology.
